Laser Cutting Head for Precision Laser Cutting
Laser cutting heads focus and direct the laser beam onto the workpiece for controlled cutting of metal and other compatible materials, with configurations available for flat cutting, tube cutting, bevel cutting, micro cutting, multi-axis and robotic applications.
A laser cutting head is a key component of a laser cutting system. It directs and focuses the laser beam onto the workpiece so that the material can be cut along the programmed path.
The cutting head works together with the laser source, optics, motion system, controller and assist-gas system. The exact head configuration must match the laser type, power range, machine design and cutting application.
Different cutting-head families are available for applications such as flat-sheet cutting, tube cutting, bevel cutting, micro cutting, multi-axis cutting and robotic cutting. Selection should always be based on the exact machine and technical requirements.
- Focused laser beam delivery to the cutting zone
- Optical focusing and beam guidance
- Cutting-path execution through the machine motion system
- Compatibility must be confirmed for laser type, power, machine interface and application
- Configurations can include flat cutting, flat bevel cutting, tube cutting, micro cutting, multi-axis cutting and robot cutting
- Cutting performance depends on the complete system, including material, thickness, laser source, optics, assist gas, parameters and machine condition
How the laser cutting head works
The cutting head receives the laser beam and focuses it onto a small cutting zone. The concentrated energy heats the material to enable cutting while the machine moves along the programmed path. Assist gas and cutting parameters are selected according to the material and process requirements.

Questions we are asked
What is a laser cutting head?
A laser cutting head is the machine component that directs and focuses the laser beam onto the workpiece for the cutting process.
How does a laser cutting head cut material?
The head focuses the laser energy onto the cutting zone while the machine follows the programmed path. The material is heated and removed according to the laser process and cutting parameters.
Are all laser cutting heads interchangeable?
No. Compatibility must be confirmed according to the laser source, power, machine interface, controller, optical configuration and intended application.
What applications are available for laser cutting heads?
Depending on the selected product family, applications can include flat cutting, tube cutting, bevel cutting, micro cutting, multi-axis cutting and robotic cutting.
What affects cutting quality and speed?
Material type, thickness, laser source, cutting-head configuration, optics, assist gas, process parameters and machine condition all affect the final cutting result.
What information is required to select a replacement cutting head?
Provide the machine brand and model, laser source, laser power, existing cutting-head model, controller, application, material and thickness range. Photos of the nameplate and existing head can also help verify compatibility.
